Wine cellar at Kubec family

Who wouldn't love South Moravia in the Czech Republic? Visiting wine cellars is a Czech tradition and a popular pastime. Not only can you visit an authentic environment and learn how wine is made (I'm sure most of you are mainly interested in tasting, right? :), but you can also explore vineyards and stay in stylish accommodation, like this private Cellar at Kubcu. Order a cellar in the summer, when it's warm, you can sit outside, and considering that it was 35 degrees (Celsia) outside during the day, a visit to an underground cellar will save your life! :) I even wanted to sleep there :))

Location

If you don't know where Mutenice is, it's about 11 km from Hodonin. This wine cellar is not located directly in Mutenice. Of course, enter the address above into your navigation, but it is located to the side, between the fields, under Dubnanska hora. There are a number of cellars here, I'm not exactly sure how many, but there could be over 20, but some are strictly private. And those that are open during festivities do not all have accommodation. If you want to find accommodation here for some important event, you have to book really far in advance, otherwise you don't stand a chance.

There is a cycle path around the cellars and a lookout tower nearby. For more trips, see below. If you happen to be cycling or walking around and there are tables and chairs in front of the cellar, the winemaker is at home and you can have a glass of wine and sit or buy a bottle.

You can park right in front of the cellar.

Accommodation

This family guesthouse offers accommodation for up to 13 people and can only be booked as a whole. On the 1st floor there are 2 rooms for four, each with its own bathroom, one with a balcony, and on the ground floor there is a two-story maisonette, two beds downstairs and 3 mattresses upstairs on the ladder stairs, there is a lowered ceiling. This maisonette also has its own bathroom. All rooms have air conditioning and wifi. Thank God for that, because the signal for data and calls is very poor in this area. If you want to make normal calls, it is better to run up the hill above the vineyards. Downstairs there is also a common room with a stove and TV and a fully equipped kitchen. In front of the kitchen there is also a private outdoor seating area. Another seating area is in front of the cellar intended more for the public, when someone is thirsty. There is also a barbecue area outside, if you want to have an event here, it can be arranged, and also a wellness area - a heated outdoor barrel with salt water. Accommodation here is available all year round.

All accommodation spaces are very stylish and match the local folklore.

If you don't have a tasting booked (which I don't even believe when someone goes to the cellar), don't forget to bring your own food and drink. Under Dubnanská hora, there is no store where you can buy anything, and no restaurant. The nearest grocery stores are approx. 6 km in Dubnany or 4 km in Mutenice. But they are smaller local stores, no hypermarkets. There are also restaurants in both villages.

Wine tasting, wine cellar, vineyard

In addition to accommodation, we had also arranged a wine tasting and a tour of the cellar. We looked at the vineyards above the guesthouse, we went to see the production and of course the wine cellar. We tasted several samples, we were asked if we preferred sweeter or dry wines and we then tasted them accordingly. I prefer sweeter ones and can recommend the Veltliner Grüner, Hibernal, pink Cabernet Moravia and the lighter red Andre.

In addition to the wine tasting, there were platters prepared for us (cheeses, cold cuts, fruits, vegetables, spreads, pastries), and the tasting was delicious! The refreshments were truly luxurious and we thank you very much for it.

An interesting fact is that if you are looking for an original gift, you can have a bottle label made according to your wishes.

Trips around the area

If you stay here for a longer period of time, you will certainly have something to do here. There are many cycle paths for cyclists in the area and pedestrians will not be bored here either.

A little above the cellars is the Vyšicko lookout tower and you can walk to Mutenice village from there.

You can also visit the baroque Milotice castle with a beautiful garden (14 km) or the famous Lednice and Valtice castles with gardens (30 km), which are part of the world-unique Lednice-Valtice area with many cultural and natural monuments, the area is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Mutenicke ponds - a protected area that is home to many birds and other fauna, suitable for walks.

Ruins of the Gothic castle Devicky (Maiden's Castles), 40 km. Cultural monument above the wine-growing village of Pavlov, from where there is a beautiful view of Palava and the Nove Mlyny reservoirs.

Palava - protected landscape area and a region with a wine-growing tradition.

Mikulov - 44 km, Mikulov castle, historical center, Svaty kopecek nature reserve with the Stations of the Cross and the chapel of St. Sebastian on the top. Turold hill with a cave and the ruins of Kozi hradek and other monuments.

Aqualand Moravia - 53 km in the village of Pasohlavky, the largest aquapark in the Czech Republic, on the banks of the Nove Mlyny reservoirs. Open in summer and winter.

Summary

We really liked this place, we felt like at home. Beautiful stylish accommodation, tasting, good wine, snacks and entertainment. I would like to emphasize that the owners are very friendly and helpful people, they showed us everything, even sat with us and we had such fun! If I am satisfied with something, I will be happy to recommend it to others. We certainly haven't been here for the last time! Thank you very much for everything! 10/10
