Eurocaralbania review: my experience renting a car in Albania

If you are planning a trip to Albania and want to travel it comfortably, for me renting a car is a must. Public transport has its limits and many of the most beautiful places are only accessible by car. Renting a car solved the problem of how to get from the airport to Vlora, where I had a hotel and it was a 2-hour drive, how to get to various beaches and excursions, cities, restaurants, etc. Without a car, I would be trapped in one place and would not see much. Moreover, May is not exactly the time to lie on the beach for a week, the water is cold, the sun did not shine every day, it even rained. And you probably do not want to spend the whole day at the hotel.

But you'll run into one problem at the Tirana airport - many car rental companies (often chasing you right after arrival) have very similar names, and not all of them have good reviews and a fair approach.

That's why I want to share my personal experience with Eurocaralbania.com, because they really pleasantly surprised me and I would rent a car from them again without hesitation.

What convinced me before arrival

The first plus came even before the trip – communication. They responded very quickly, willingly and professionally, even in the evening. That is exactly what you will appreciate before the trip – no waiting for several days for a response, no uncertainty.

Everything was clearly agreed in advance:

- price (very favorable compared to the competition),

- conditions (the car was fully insured, no deposit),

- place of handover (directly at the airport),

- even details regarding arrival.

Thanks to this, I arrived in Albania with the feeling that I knew what to expect.

Car pickup – stress-free

Upon arrival, they were waiting for me right at the airport with a sign with my name on it, so there was no need to search or worry about "where can I find them?".

The car was parked in the parking lot right next to the arrivals hall, the handover was quick and without unnecessary delay. I signed the papers (I sent my ID and driver's license before departure), they explained to me how to operate the automatic, because I usually drive a manual, and I got a very nice Volkswagen Golf. I would recommend it for 2-3 people, otherwise you won't fit big suitcases, the car has a small trunk. For 4 people, take a bigger car.

And now the most important thing – the car was reliable, clean and in perfect condition. You never want to deal with technical problems during your vacation with a rental car – here I had complete peace of mind. I just kept leaving the keys in the car and after a few steps I had to go back when I realized that the auto-lock didn't beep because my car has a contactless card :)

Car return – their best trick

This really excited me.

Instead of stressing about parking right at the airport in extreme traffic, looking for the right spot, and getting nervous about the queues, we arranged to drop off the car just outside the airport at a restaurant on the way. The entire arrangement was done via WhatsApp, I was sent the exact location of the drop-off, I just clicked on it and Google already guided me.

There we swapped drivers and they took me straight to the terminal.

The result?

- no searching for parking,

- no confusion,

- no delays,

- zero stress.

A brilliant system for me.

Price

When renting a car in Albania, prices vary greatly depending on the season, insurance and specific rental company. I had a Volkswagen Golf for 7 days, which is a typical mid-range car, the price was very competitive within the airport offer in the lower to mid-range, especially when I consider:

- no hidden fees

- no complications during delivery

- no delays or deposit problems (no deposit)

- price includes "full service" (pickup, delivery, assistance)

- you can easily order on their website

- you can pay directly on the website by card or even in cash upon delivery

Compared to some well-known international rental companies, they were better, and the service was on a much more personal level. So I take the price not just for the car, but for the complete stress-free service. You have the option to pay extra for extra services, such as a second driver, full insurance (I recommend), and a child seat.

Cheapest: local rental companies (but highest risk of quality differences)

Highest prices: international brands (Europcar / Sixt / Hertz)

At Tirana Airport there are:

- lots of rental companies with very similar names

- some companies look "official" but are not the same brands

- differences in reviews are huge
